Bitcoin DCA agent
Updated by the Circuit team
What dollar-cost averaging is
Dollar-cost averaging buys a fixed dollar amount on a fixed schedule at any price. It removes timing decisions and smooths the average entry price over time.
Run a DCA agent on Circuit
A DCA agent buys Bitcoin from the wallet you choose on your schedule, such as every Monday. Each purchase links to its onchain transaction. You can top up, pause or stop the agent at any time. Live accumulation agents are listed under BTC trading agents.
Variations
Agents can buy more after drawdowns, skip purchases above a price, spread buys across several assets, or rebalance to a target mix. Describe the rule and the Builder writes it. See build a trading agent without code and crypto index baskets.
Keys and permits
Agents run on a wallet you create in Circuit or import by private key. Circuit keeps the signing key in a hardware enclave. Agents never see it. An agent requests typed actions through Circuit's SDK. Nothing is signed without the permit you sign with your passkey when you start the agent.
You can export the private key from Settings at any time. You can pause, resume or stop an agent at any time. Stopping leaves your positions and resting orders in your account. You ask Circuit to close them.
Spot or perp
A DCA agent can buy and hold wrapped Bitcoin such as cbBTC on Base or UBTC on Hyperliquid. It can also add to a 1x BTC long on Hyperliquid. At 1x a long's liquidation price sits near zero. A perp position pays or earns funding every hour while you hold it. Funding paid from margin moves the liquidation price up over time. The weekly Bitcoin buying strategy uses the perp route and skips any week your available margin cannot cover.
Why DCA works
Buying the same dollar amount every period means you buy more coins when the price is low and fewer when it is high. Your average cost lands below the simple average price over the period. It also removes the hardest decision in investing, which is when to buy. It removes the temptation to stop after a drop too.
A worked example
$20 a week for a year is $1,040. If Bitcoin spends half the year at $60,000 and half at $80,000 the agent buys $520 ÷ $60,000 = 0.0087 BTC at the lower price and $520 ÷ $80,000 = 0.0065 BTC at the higher one. That is 0.0152 BTC for $1,040. The average cost is near $68,600 and the simple average is $70,000.
What it costs
Circuit charges no fees today and adds no builder fee to Hyperliquid or Polymarket orders. You pay the venue's trading fees, network gas and any bridge or routing fees. Each prepared action's review shows the costs it reports before you confirm. Today's terms make no commitment about future fees.
Getting started
- Sign in to app.circuit.org with a passkey.
- Create a wallet or import an existing one by private key.
- Fund it with crypto, a transfer from an exchange, or a debit card through MoonPay.
- Open an agent from the live agent list, choose an allocation and start it. Agents start in paper trading by default. Papertrade agents start with real money.
- When the results convince you, start the same agent with real money. Pause, resume, top up or stop it from your home screen.
